Losing data on SD Card

Is there any reason that after a soft restart that all the data on an SD Card is gone. Is there any way to get it back?

I have soft reset dozens of times and have never had a loss from a memory card.
Can you navigate to the SD card from your desktop PC My Computer?
Are you able to create folders on the card anymore?
Can you access new files stored in these new folders?

Another user tried to empty out their CF card by deleting it from the My Device directory. A hard reset may be necessary to recover from some of the things you can do.

Thanks for the reply, what seems to have happened is that I did a soft reset and the SD card formatted itself. I was able to store anything that I wanted on the card again...

Kind of weird, maybe I strike it up to a flakey incident and go from there. I will also try to recreate the problem and if I can do that I will post my findings and then contact ScanDisk.
