Connectivity Problem

Can someone please explain what the connections screen does.

I usually connect via to following:
1. At work USB cradle connection to Windows2000 desktop through activesync for Outlook email, contacts, inbox syncing.

2. In the car to gps(RS Digitraveller or Garmin) via serial cable running Delorme Xmap using NMEA protocol.

3. At home using Linksys WCF12 wireless to D-Link DI614+ router for direct internet browsing, Avantgo, and desktop pc running Win98SE for file transfer (no active sync)

For item #1 above I can successfully connect 20% of the time, for #2 connection is successful 50% of the time and about 90% successful for #3.

I suspect that the reasons have to do with the >settings>connections configuration even though the word "automatically" is repeated on this screen

Also the very last setting only selects "My network card connects to:" What network card??? I am only connecting through the bottom connector or the CF card why doesn't it give these options?

One final question - Does WM2003 keep this same screen?

Thanks
