Hi,
Does anyone have the Dell TrueMobile 1180 wifi card and what kind of battery life do you get when surfing the web with that card?
Would using the 3400 battery make a substantial difference?
Thanks,
Sabesh.

I'm curious too. I'm wondering if this is really a rebranded Socket CF card. In which case, its an excellent deal from Dell.

No one's got a Dell wi-fi card? Just curious.
Cheers,
Sabesh.

Just in case anyone else is interested:
I got this card today and setup was painless. I get good reception (a little weaker, but very usable signal strength as the Orinoco mini PCI card on my laptop).
I've only had it for a few hours, so I can't comment on it just yet.
Cheers,
Sabesh.

sabesh or anyone else with this card,
How is your experience with this card so far? Reception, battery usage acceptable? Did you run into any problems? Does it require soft resets? I'm trying to get some feedback on this card to determine whether or not I should cancel my order and get the Netgear wifi card.

Angelo,
Reception and battery life are great with this card. However, the card requires soft resets about 50% of the time *IF* you change SSIDs (go to another network).
The soft resets are not a big deal for me, as these resets are almost instantaneous.
Overall, I'm very happy with this card. If you have any more questions, feel free to email me at:

Cheers,
Sabesh

I have the card and it works fine. I have never used it long enough to run the battery down, so it must be a low powered unit. I get good reception throughout my house. I bought it for $100 with my Axim, now I see it is $70 with the Axim. Oh Well ...

Thanks for the responses. If anyone else has any feedback, I still have time to think about it. I guess $69 isn't bad. But my order doesn't ship till the 26th!

I talked my wife in to letting me order it now because I had to wait so long for it to ship (I'm in law school, and if I waited, i may not have it until after the semester).
well, I ordered it yesterday (Feb. 14th), and my order status is "shipped" on the 15th, currently in "transit to local carrier."
Nice surprise for me, but my wife thinks I lied just so I could get it early! Now I have to order memory overnight!
By the way, SanDisk 256MB SD on Amazon for $79.00
I am so stoked about this PPC! I bought the Toshiba e740 from Best Buy (returning it tomorrow), and I hated it. very uncomfortable, sceen is so-so. The WiFi has very short range, the battery lock is crap, etc., etc., etc. A guy at a suit store had the Axim, I held it in my hands, and I was SOLD! ;)

dcsatt,
Yeah, this is a great machine, ain't it? My boss has an HP IPAQ 39xx and he's envious of my axim, 'cos of the CF card slot. He sees me using my wi-fi card and GPS unit and regrets getting the HP.
But, I must admit .. The IPAQ's screen is a tad bit brighter.
Cheers,
Sabesh.
