Maybe you can try to delete the partnerships on your PC and then try again? Beware, when you delete a partnership you'll also delete data.
Furthermore I have to admit that I also had some problems, just out of the blue with syncen. I had to hard reset my Axim and deleted the partnership on the PC (because also I wanted to keep the same name of the PPC that I used).
