What's the difference?
Okay, here's my question: Is it worth the extra money to buy the 400mhz model? Besides the obvious differences in the specs between the basic and the advanced, am i really going to see a performance difference between the two?

depends on your needs
It depends on your needs and how tight your money situation is.....if you're using it for simply addresses, phone numbers, calender reminders and you don't plan on loading up other applications (music files, games or other processor intensive or memory hog applications), the lighter model will be fine.
However, I would guess that the speed and the ability to multi task would be greatly improved wqith the 400 model. If you can afford the difference, I'd go for the 400 version (which I did and I'm thrilled with it).:p

If you are actually going to use it for more that an expensive appt. reminder then go for it. The 400 runs applications smoother and gives you less trouble. My company owns 5 300'
s and I own a 400. I manage all of them. The 300's give me trouble every couple of days while trying to run the CMMS program on them. Guarunteed!! Go with the 4!!

I'll put in my $.02.
I have a 300. I have around 1500 contacts, many appointments, etc....
I also run GPS (Mapopolis), play MP3's (PocketMusic), use WiFi for ActiveSync & Internet (Linksys card), and my kids play Nintendo often (PocketNester).
Although I haven't had a 400 to compare it too, the only time I have ever felt that it was slow was when I had ALL the maps loaded for a 1000 mile trip and tried to search for a "place" in Mapopolis without limiting the location.
I paid $119 (special with a notebook about a month back). Couldn't justify paying over twice that for the 400.

I, too, have the 300 and am especially happy for the price I paid. Honestly, if I had to do it over again, I wouldn't hesitate one second. With that in mind though, if I had a bit of money to spare and with the evident knowledge I have now of the differences between the two, I would probably jump on the 400. But again, it comes down to the use you'll make of it, and the money you can afford to pay.

I have the 300, I bought it to replace a Handspring Visor Deluxe, which didn't quite fit my needs. The 300 far exceeds my needs, I use it for buisness travel, mainly as an extension of my laptop!

hey good point to overclock...might be worth getting the 3,overclock and spend a little on an sd card to store on,keeping your main "built in" mem freed up
but,i have the 400 and very glad i went that way

I have a 300, and I play MP3's and movies without the least bit of a problem. Spreadsheets and Word documents never seem to slow it down. Games work fine... even Pocket Quake gets 10 fps. I don't see why you'd want to spend the extra for the 400, unless everything you were doing was processor-intensive.
