Worried The Axim as a recorder

hello evreyone
my axim recordes only if i speak very close to the speaker
is there a way to increase the recording posibilties (like recording a meeting if the axim is on the table)
maybe a thierd party softweare

not that I know of...

I m sure it has to do with the quality of the mic. it isn't that great. I don't know if there external mic for the axim aviable (for the cf slot maybe).....

Well, in settings > system > microphone you should move the slider all the way to the right, for maximum gain. That's the best it can do.

Gain settings are the way to go if you just stick to the default recording application.

Or there is Resco Audio Recorder (works after you install then soft reset - no documentation, but has VAS and can adjust the mic sensitivity) or NoteM (this one's free but no VAS slider) which can both record in MP3 giving you much more space available for recording.

I used my Pocket PC in my last recurrent class to record what questions to study for the test the next day. Worked great!
VAS is awesome for that type of environment too.
