Hallo

I have heard people talking about Service Pack 3 for pocket 2002 OS but have not been able to find a place to download it. I checked out Microsoft and they have a page up describing what the software does but not any place to download. They say contact your vedor for download. So I look to Dells website and can't find it either.

So 2 questions. 1) Do I need this service pack (ie: will it help or fix anything?). 2) Where do I download it?

Thanks for your time.

Do not download it, since your Axim already has all the updates. Only download service packs and updates from the support site at dell, not microsoft. You'll have to perform a hard reset if you install anything from microsofts site.

So to answer your quesitons.

1) No you don't need it since you already have SP3 installed
2) Check out http://support.dell.com/ to see if any new updates are there.

The only one they have is for the D-Pad which was pulled last time I looked. There are not many updates to Pocket PC OS so don't expect to see any soon other than Dell Axim specific solutions. Pocket PC 2003 will be out soon so I doubt there will be another Service Pack for 2002, but I could be mistaken.

Either way only download system updates form Dells site.

Hi

The general concensus around the site is we have the latest OS (I guess that includes SP3). Just a warning - don't download any updates from MS site - only from Dell's site as some parts of the OS are device specific. I'm sure any patches or service packs will be announced by this site within minutes of appearing on Dell's site.

In a word, "Yes". They are designed for upgradeability and if you have one of the 400mhz Axims, you even have more "ROM" available for that purpose. Ultimately, we must first wait for Microsoft to release it and then wait for Dell to package it and modify it as necessary for our Axims. What we'll end up getting is a CD of some sort.

There hasn't been any official announcement regarding a Pocket PC 2003.
