Is there any way to get a CF2 card (or some such item) to turn a pda like the axim into a cell phone?
i mean, there are all the parts you'd need except for the communication devices to talk to the phone network.

anyone have a clue about such items?

Although anything is possible(with sufficient funding, of course :P ), I do not think such an animal exists right now. Pocket PC's and cell phones are two horses of a different color. Audiovox make's the zebra though. The Audiovox Thera is a 2-in-1 unit. It come's at a sufficient cost though (here we go back to sufficient funding!!! :P ).

Throb,

Now you know you can use the Axim with Voice Over IP, there is software out there that you can download to support. I have used it on my dsl line at home and it works pretty good. I have not tried it at a wireless AP like at Starbucks, but I would think it would work there too

This would be the beast. I'd love to see a review of this unit!

Cheers.

I stand corrected. There is such a critter! What d'ya know.... That "Sprint Thingy" is pretty cool, too! Do any other cellular service providers have such "Thingys"? It comes back to funding again. Ouch! Quite pricey for voice communication.

I just use my Danger Sidekick. It's great and at $49.99 (after rebates) it's a cheap solution.

The Sprint Thingy would be a great solution if it didn't cost so much. Here's the Sidekick
