Mad Palm M100 address book to X5

Someone please help me. I have just gotten my X5 and it's great. I have all the great accessories with it especially the Dell True mobile 1180 WLAN compact card. I can't wait to use it. However, I've checked out several posts and some suggested using intellisynch from yahoo and that didn't work and then I tried install the old version of my Palm software to hotsynch with MS Outlook and that too didn't work. Could I please get detailed instructions on how to proceed. I am getting frustrated as I don't want to re-enter all of my contacts. Thanks.

Is there a way to export from the Palm software into a CSV format?? Or Text format? You could then re-import to Outlook?

You can export form Palm Desktop to .csv file and then import that file into Outlook.

If you make a new contact in Palm Desktop using the field names as data it makes it easier to map fields in Outlook (i.e. Last Name: 1Last, First Name: First ect…..).
Using the “1” in front of the “Last” should make it the first row in the .csv file and it will be the one Outlook will open to map the fields.

Hope this makes sense. If it doesn’t, drink 3 or 4 beers…… that’s where I was at when I wrote it….

Look on the CDROM for the Palm for a program called PocketMirror. Use that to sync the Palm to Outlook, then the Ax can sync to outlook and you're done.

Also, there is a way to sync Palms at Yahoo and then sync the Ax to Yahoo and be done with it as well, but I don't know the details.

I think there is an interface issue with the Axim :) You certainly CAN beam them one at a time.. I assume you're running WM2003, I'm still on PPC2002 but I'm pretty sure that you have to have the setting "Receive all incoming beams" enabled. Make sure you have that on. I beam stuff to and from palm (just individual contacts) on a fairly regular basis..

As JakeRich said earlier, you can do this VERY easily by using PocketMirror (PM). Just uninstall everything, reinstall Palm software, choosing to synchronize with Outlook (NOT Outlook Express). Then, simply synch everything with Outlook, install ActiveSync, and synch everything with the Axim. Just two presses of a button ;)

What do you mean by "that too didn't work"? That's the best way to get it done. It's what I've always used and it does work!

Before I read posts on this topic I exported from Palm to .csv file and then imported to Outlook. This is NOT the way to go, you have to set up a "map" of how the fields will translate over. Yeah most of the data came in but the contact types were messed up (i.e. home phone would show up in cellphone etc.). This is because the Palm address book lets you change the field types through a drop down, so the fields may not be consistent from one contact to the next.

I deinstalled the Palm desktop and reinstalled from CD which runs the PocketMirror allowing you to change where the contacts sync to. I guess from the post above you can find and run PocketMirror separately. Synced from Palm to Outlook and then synced the Ax and everything came over pretty well, only had to fix a couple.

That's the way to go, trust me....;)
