Synching on the road. How?

I have my new Axim set up at home. I bought a synch cord so I could use it on other computers. Uh, oh! I plug in the USB cable on my office computer, WindowsXP recognizes that I have a new device, but it can't find a driver. Grrrr.

This really, really sucks, because I had hoped to take this thing with me on some long trips. I planned to journal then upload and download files from computers at internet cafes. Do I have to toss this idea out the window now? I mean, I can't carry the CD with me and install it on every computer I use, right?

Suggestions, please!

Someone else here suggestes using an USB File Store keyring thing with AS and the Dell driver on it.

Or you could use wifi if the Internet Cafe's have wifi.

Hmmm, or if I have WiFi, which I don't. I guess my big fear is that few internet cafes will allow you to install ANYthing on their computers (and I don't blame 'em!).

This reminds me of the problem I had when I bought my first MP3 player (the Nomad II). Not only could it not be read by the computer as a portable storage device, but the damned thing required prop. software to download the music files to the thing. To add furhter insult to injury, the Creative software was really awful.

I'm bummed out.
