Sandisk SD cards

Ive heard people on this site mention that Sandisk brand SD cards arent very good. Can anyone tell me why not? Ive noticed they are considerably cheaper than some other brands. Do they not retain data as well? Thanks
Noel

For some reason, they tend to be really buggy in Axims. I got one from Dell when I initially ordered my Axim in March. If I EVER took it out, the Axim stopped recognizing it, and I had to format to use it again. Also, many of the programs that I installed to it were corrupted on install and stopped running.

It's not worth the hassle of finding one that works in my opinion... I'm very happy with my 256mb Memorex SD Card.

I have several SanDisk SD and CF cards. I have only had one problem with a CF card just over 6 mos ago. Luckily, I didn't lose any data...every time I turned my Ax on, it would ask me if I wanted to format the card. It got really annoying. Anyway, SanDisk replaced it and I have had no further troubles :)

I have 256 MB CF and SD cards. The CF card causes the Axim to run excruciatingly slow whenever I'm running a program or opening a file. At first I thought it was the Axim itself, until I took the card out while a program was running and it instantly speeded up. I though it was just my own card that was faulty until a friend told me about the San Disk card problem that others said they were having on a previous aximsite post. I've since purchased a 256 MB SimpleTech CF card and I haven't had any problems with it. I'm using the San Disk CF card only for backup storage now. The 256 MB SD card works O.K. for storing files too, but when I tried using it for viewing pictures I've taken with my camera, the files don't show up on the Axim.

Bottom Line: AVOID SAN DISKS AT ALL COSTS!!! YOUR WALLET (AND YOUR SANITY) WILL THANK YOU!

P.S. I've heard that San Disk is aware of the problem with their cards but is unwilling to do anything about it.

I recently got my hands on a lexar 256MB card, AR0306LR.

A friend of mine is a professional photographer and now uses CF cards in his camera because he won a new one. So he let me have his lexar card (which was brand new and un-used that he was planning to use) for 80$ canadian. I transferred about 50 MB of mp3s and a movie to the card, worked fine, deleted them, and transferred 200MB of MP3s and a lot of apps to the card, still works great. Played the MP3s for a good two hours as well. No issues

I now use this card to compliment my 256MB panasonic, and my 1GB CF which I ordered today.

It's not a japanese card but it works great. I may soon have issues with it, but I hope not. Lexar does seem to be good to its customers, so if I do I will send the card to them and try to get a japan one.

Nonetheless, it seems to be a good card

I had a 256 Lexar from China ARxxxxxx and had the problem of 'dot' folders almost from the start. Lexar replaced it without question with a card from Japan. I have now run all the Happycheesecake tests on it and it has not failed. From all that I have read here and other forums, the Lexar was also made with the Sandisk controler and that is supposed to be the problem. I think that if I found a Sandisk card that wasn't made in China or rather WAS made in Japan for a great price I wouldn't hesitate in buying it. Just my 2 cents worth.....
