It looks like supplynet has a cable coming for the 4900. But at $59.95 it's pretty pricy.

They can't, USB stuff like the axim is flagged as USB perph, where a laptop is a hub. You can't have 2 preph talk to each other.
That's how they explained it to me....

They are not available yet because that phone, much like my beloved Samsung A500 phone, use digital only connection via a USB connection. TheSupplyNet is in the process of releasing them for our phones and their site shows a release date of 7/21/2003. You can pre-order one now, which is probably not a bad idea considering these things will be in short supply when they are first released in my opinion. Here is the link for your phone:
Sanyo SCP-4900, 5300, 8100
Here is the one for you Samsung owners:
Samsung A460, A500, A540, A560, N240, N400, N475
P.S. - I am not affiliated in any way with this company... I just want this to be available yesterday like the rest of you. :p

I'm using an LG5350 phone with a Gomadic cable. The phone can be switched to either USB or serial, so it works fine. Using *777 to dial into Sprint, I get throughput between 50 and 100kbps (tested using PCPitstop download speed test) all the time. Works great!

Does anyone know if there is a way to use the USB cable I purchased from dell to connect to one of the Radio Shack USB cables they sell for the Sanyo 8100 and connect to #777 for Data?

I'm waiting for the cable from supplynet, because I can't find anymore that will work with my Sanyo 5300.

Axim to Sanyo 4900
I sent them an email a while back asking two questions.
1) How did they get the USB to work on the Sanyo 4900 where others have failed (or not tried).
He did not provide a technical answer, only that they had a prototype that was functioning with the Sanyo 4900 and that they were currently going to production.
2) How likely the target date of July was? (For those that don't remember, they've had 2 target dates in the past for this same cable, one in March and one in April).
He seemed confident based on the prototype working at that point that a July release for the cable was likely.
If I still have the email I'll post the response tonight when I get home from work.

Gomadic Rocks!
I've had a Gomadic cable for about a month now w/ PCS Vision service and my LG5350 phone.
They are by far the greatest cables and company that I've ever dealt with!
The customer service and support is WONDERFUL!
I just sent my cable into them since I recently purchased an Axim---and it got there and back in less than a week! No hassle and no fees other than the postage!
If you want to order from a great company and be able to have EXCELLENT customer support---order from Gomadic!

Darn! Well, that figures... I have only been waiting patiently for months! I just wrote them asking for some clarification on whether they actually plan to meet the new deadline or whether this product is vaporware. I mean, this does not really convince one to pre-order, that is for sure.

JJSOmaha, does your connection stop/restart whenever you are browsing the web? Seems to disconnect whenever a page loads and then re-connects to access other pages. Makes the connection really slow at times :(
