After not using my X5 for about a year I started to use it again at a new job. I use to be able to get internet on it when docked but I forgot how I did that. I would like to eventually get a wi-fi CF card and do it that way.
Thanks

Like Jogga said, all you should have to do is sync it up and for to explorer. If you have Vista, your version of the Operating system may be the issue. To start - What operating system are you using?
He may have firewall/security issues at work. I used to be able to do this from work but I can't now even though I have full access from my work desktop.
Until recently I was able to connect my X50v to the Internet via ActiveSync on my desktop, using ActiveSync 4.2.0 (build 4876), but now it has stopped working. I have no idea why.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing ActiveSync and also tried turning off my firewall but neither makes any difference.
I have checked the "Allow connections to one of the following" box and selected COM Port 11. I have also tried COM Port 1. Neither of them work.
I think that this may have happened when I installed Bluetooth but I have un-installed Bluetooth and it makes no difference.
According to Control Panel\System\Hardware\Device Manager my desktop has COM Ports 1 and 2 as Communication Ports and COM Ports 8 and 23 as Bluetooth Communication Ports.
I have ActiveSync is 4.5.0 (build 5096) using XP Pro, and Pocket PC 2002. I have one of the very first Axims and even the lower end one the 300 mhz 32mg one. What settings do I need to have it on? I have tried many different ones like Davrol posted above.
Thanks,
On your desktop, open ActiveSync|Options and make sure you have it set for PassThrough and Connect to Work. If that does not work try downgrading your ActiveSync version to 3.8 which is still recommended for 2003 and older devices.

Many thanks for that. The only problem is that ActiveSync 4.2\Options does not have the options "Pass Through" or "Connect to Work", so I cannot select tham as you suggest. All very curious.
I have tried downgrading to AS 3.8 as you suggest, but the results are also very strange. The AS icon appears on the task bar but when I select "Open ActiveSync" nothing appears on the main screen/desktop. Also "Connections Settings" selects COM Port 1 but then say " The Port is not Available". Also the Port Selection box is grayed out (both with the PDA connected and disconnected) so it is not possible to select another COM Port. So I have gone back to AS 4.2 which does allow COM Port selection with the PDA disconnected (but not when it is connected).
I am sure that the whole problem is a COM Port matter. Does anyone know how I can create another free COM Port on my desktop which AS can use?
I seem to recall reading somewhere that possibly the widcomm stack has a conflict with being able to get pass through on internet when cradled. I don't recall where I read it and maybe someone with more knowledge may know if there is any association with the widcomm stack impacting the ability to get pass through on the axim when cradled. I know I have X51v with widcomm stack and using AS 4.2 and I cannot get pass through internet connection when cradled.
To enable internet passthrough with ActiveSync 4.x:
Open up ActiveSync on your computer.
Select File > Connection Settings.
Select "Open ActiveSync when my device connects"
In the box under This computer is connected to:" You have three choices "Automatic", "Work Network", and "The Internet." Select the setting that best applies to your internet connection.
You may need to try each of the options to see which one works.
I have also found that if I have the Microsoft firewall enabled, I am not able to use the internet passthrough option.

I have tried that using all three choices and have not been able to get it to work. I have just given up with trying to use pass through while in the cradle. I appreciate your suggestion but there must be something else that is keeping me from being able to internet while cradled.
