Sync does not recognise Axim after memory loss

Hi,

For reasons that I could not avoid, my Axim recently lost all battery power and so the memory lost all data.

I expected that all would be well when I got it back, charged the battery and resynched it.

However, the sync program appears to think that it is a different Axim and will not synch it as the old one.

It keeps telling me that a device with that name already exists and says that I must enter a new device name.

How can I get the sync software on the PC to recognise that this reallyu is the same Axim?

thanks

Have you tried deleting your existing ActiveSync partnership and setting it back up again?

I didn't try that,

Would that not delete all of the data that the PC holds about the Axim effectively giving me a blank PDA?

regards

No. When you delete the partnership, you'll be asked if you want to delete the My Documents folder, say no.

Then when you create a new partnership, ActiveSync will sync all your contacts, appointments, tasks, etc. back to the Pocket PC and you can copy the items from the My Documents folder on your computer into your new My Documents folder.
