No backup--am I screwed?

Just moved to AZ and accidentally left my cradle in storage TX. Had my Axim sync'd to my old work computer and meant to sync to my home pc ASAP, but with the move, it was forgotten. My batteries completely died before I had a chance to load onto my home pc, and now I'm afraid the info is gone forever. I have the cradle now, but the Axim wants me to do setup. Does anyone know of a way to rescue it off of the Axim? I'm feeling rather desperate. Help!?

YES! ... if you have no backup and battery ran out, then you are indeed screwed as you so eloquently put it.
If you had data in the built-in memory that one stayed, but the RAM is completely and utterly empty ... Sorry

I hate to say it, but you've just learned why so many of us swear by Pocket Backup. I have mine set to do an automatic backup to my built-in storage once a day. If something goes wrong, I've got my backup right there. Best $20 to $30(pro) you'll spend on your Ax, hands down.

Mike, doesn't that really wear away at the 10,000-write limit on the ROM?

Hmmm, wouldn't it be easier to just back-up everything on the RAM on your PC? :X

First off, the write limit for the ROM (as reported by Intel) is approximately 100,000 writes, not 10,000 as you said.

Also, by backing up once a day to the built-in storage, that wouldn't really wear away at even a 10,000 write limit....much less the actual 100,000 write limit. If you think about it 365 writes per year with this method. So even if you kept your PDA for 10 years (which I doubt any of us will do), that's only 3,650 writes.

Any chance the info is still on the work computer? If there's someone you trust there, they could probably get much of the data and programs back. Then they could backup to ROM or a memory card and send it back.
