Question EDV question - honest, not a rant, just a question

I ordered an IR-extender from Electric Dog Ventures about a month ago. I am in no rush to receive the device as I understand they're a small company. However, today I received a cancellation notice from CCNow today for the order. Does anyone know if they've stopped making them, or if anything else is going on to cause this cancellation?

TIA

PS: Does anyone have a spare they'd want to sell?

Thonglaw,

I am still trying to get in touch with my contacts at EDV to find out what is going on. I'm sure you've read some of the posts from the past about how EDV is just a side business for the owner, who is away a lot of the time on business trips for his real job.

The cancellation is because after 30 days of not shipping, CCNow cancels the order automatically. This is just a safety procedure to assure that you do not get screwed out of money.

However, now if you try to add the PDA-ir to a shopping cart on the EDV website, you get an error message saying that their CCNow store is not available.

I assume that CCNow has received complaints about EDV, and has stopped processing their orders until they hear back from the owner.

I'm not sure what is going on at the moment, but have been trying hard for the past week to get in touch with someone about it. Lets cross our fingers that they are not discontinuing the product.

Alright....

I still haven't heard back from any of my contacts with EDV. However, there are a few posts over at the RemoteCentral forums that show signs of bad news for EDV. The UK distributor/reseller for the PDA-ir is Laser. Apparently, Laser has been sending out e-mails to it's PDA-ir customers stating that EDV has discontinued production of the PDA-ir. One user reports that their e-mail said that Laser is negotiating with EDV to get the design from them, in order to begin producing them theirselves.

Hopefully, in the event that this happens, Laser will ship them out to U.S. customers for a small price. We'll have to hang on and see though.

My order...this is the second one I placed is still showing, awaiting shipment.

I ordered it back in June, it got canceled and when I sent an email no reply came back so I thought I must have canceled it.

Does anyone else offer this product or something similar? I bought TV Remote Controller to use with this product. Without it, the $15 I paid for the remote control program is absolutely worthless on the Axim with its 1 foot IR distance...

Unless there is an IR extender on the market I would strongly advise against Axim owners purchasing TV Remote Controller from PDAwin.com due to the Axim's limitations, not their program.

Read my previous post right above yours. EDV is obviously having problems. Laser is working out the details to obtain the rights to produce and distribute the PDA-ir themselves. So as long as everything works out okay, Laser should begin producing the PDA-ir very soon.

I had read it.

Still doesn't change the facts today. Until they own the license and produce the product, its vaporware to me.

Hopefully, my second order goes through having read other posts while doing a search where some stated getting their products this last month.

:crossing fingers:

Thank you much Deftech. I hope they don't stop selling this product either. Nothing else out there seems to work as well. I guess I'll continue using my Radio Shack pyramids as an amplifier. :)

Please let us know if you hear anything about Laser making the product. I'll be the first with an order in.
