ActiveSync problem...too!

Hi everyone...

So my wife comes to me last night and says...my Axim won't turn on! My heart falls into my stomach since I immeadiately suspect she ran the battery down...which was the case. I put the device in it's cradle and it performed a "hard reset". Oh well, here we go! I input the normal start up data (screen alignment etc) took note that the batteries were indeed drained (0% Main, 0% backup). I then wanted to use my Activesync backup copy to restore her data and it would not "connect". I restored from the CF card which went well, but am still not able to connect to Activesync. I realized that I hadn't put in her unique name for the device which I went back and input, but it still won't sync. It asked me if I wanted to sign on as a guest which I didn't do the first couple of times I tried to connect (perhaps I should have?) Now it is not even giving me the option to sign on as a guest any longer (only tries to connect and says..."Connection error"). Any ideas how to establish the link again...and if I am able to connect should I restore again from the Activesync backup copy over the CF copy that is already on there? Thanks for any help you might be able to provide. Have a great day!

Erm, I think that you were the one who did the booboo here: the first time after a hard-reset, you are supposed to connect as Guest, in order to perform the restoration of the data. Afterwards, you can connect normally........

Anyway, what the hell do I know ? My Axim is still not connecting, so right now I might as well be discussing the reproductive organs of the Red Spark frog of the Amazon river

Thanks for the reply Ace. I'll take the blame on that component of this mess, however, are there any suggestions on how to right this wrong??? Do I do a hard reset, and try to reconnect again, sign on as a guest and do a restore from the backup copy that should still be in Activesync? What would the exact sequence be? Thanks again for any help you (or anyone else) is able to provide.

I think it goes exactly like you said: since you have the backup, you cannt lose your data, so dont be afraid to experiment a bit ;)
You perform the hard backup, and after AS "discovers" the Axim, you connect as Guest, in order to restore the data. As soon as you restore the data, you also restore your identification data, so the next time you connect (AS should ask you to soft-reset your Axim after the restore), you will connect normally, and everything *should* go smoothly and as expected......

I have done this, and it has gone exactly like I described above. However, since right now I'm also having MAJOR difficulties with AS and/or Axim, my words are not to be trusted completely
