Setting up Symbol WIFI card...help...

Okay, I just got my X5 today. It came w/ a Symbol, Spectrum 24 WIFI card (CF). Now the fun begins. It's not set up in the PDA. I found (I think) the driver for it, and have downloaded the 58 files to my PC. Now, which parts of it do I need to get into the PDA and how. Via ActiveSync? How do I do it? I'm kind of technically challenged. Any help in the right direction is greatly appreciated!!!

Jen

Here's my system info incase it's important: (I think I have Windows Mobile 2003...maybe you could confirm that for me.)

400MHz
RAM 64MB
ROM 48MB
ROM Version A05

Micorsoft Poket PC
Version 4.20.1081 (Build 13100)

Thanks!!

Yes, you have WM03.

In the subdirectory 'NDI' are two cab files. I think you should use 'ppc2003.ARM.CAB' (ppc2003_drv.ARM.CAB is just the driver but I think the other includes a utility that can be useful). Copy the cab file to your Axim and 'run it' from a file explorer. I think your other option is to use the Setup.exe in the 'Mobile Companion Installer' folder while your Axim is connected via ActiveSync. It will probably lead you through the CF card installation.

[Note: it's usually a good idea to create a backup of the Axm before installing any software. That way, you can go back t the current setup if something doesn't work right.]

Well, now wait a minute, I spoke too soon. Apparently it's all installed, but my green light is blinking fast. And I can't get through the tutorial. When it says to click on "Network Card"...(WM03-6), the next screen is supposed to be "Configure Wireless Networks". But on mine it says "Configure Network Adapters". And I can't delete what's there. Ugh!

You get the Network Adapters page when the WiFi is not 'active.' Try removing the card, soft reseting, and then reinserting.

Oh, my husband got it. He said is wasn't seeing the IP address. Luckily he knew how to do that! So, I'm back to where I'm up and running (I hope)! :)
