If you're running Vista as the OS on your PC you need to install the Windows Mobile Device Center to sync your X5. Then once your PC sees the X5 follow the advice in this thread. Let us know if it works for you.

You'll need Activesync 4.5 instead of Windows Mobile Device Center with that PC OS. You can get it here. You also may want to consider updating your ROM to A04 as well so you'll have the latest updates to the Pocket PC 2002 OS on your device.

There is a driver file that was necessary for the early ROM versions of the X5. File R55367.exe, the USB driver for X5 from Dell downloads. You may need to install it before you'll be able to upgrade the Axim (assuming the cable isn't the problem).

The file "R55367.exe" is an executable. How can the exe be missing if that's what you downloaded?

What is the difference between Activesynch 4.2 and 4.5. Is it really necessary for me to upgrade to the 4.5? I don't like to fix something that isn't broke. That is why I ask. If it will make my X5's work better then, by all means, I'll do it. If I'm not going to see any difference then I don't see the point.

Thanks
