I have been trying to use Microsoft theme generator with Windows XP without success. With Windows 2000, I am able to do everything but it is as if most of the software doesn't get installed with XP.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

I'm running XP with the theme generator and it's working fine. Try uninstalling, and reinstalling it.

Do you need to have administrator rights with XP to install things? Most programs will tell you that you don't have the proper authority to do something, but others may just fail quietly.
I use W2K, so I'm just guessing.

There's two types of users on XP, Administator, and Limited. If your Limited, you can't install things. Be sure you are setup with Administrator rights.

I'm using XP and theme generator without fail. Made several themes and edited others so I can get a text color that actually shows up.

I suggest also making sure you have all the "windows updates" that is available to you. You would be amazed at how often that fixes things.

Also you need to be an adminstrator in XP to do things.

you can check this by going

Start > Control Panel > User Accounts

Yet another I have XP and it works without any effort or trouble post. I agree with the others saying that you should hit windows update. Get SP1 ect.
