In my Dell Axim X5 if I check the checkbox to store on a storage device, the ourglass turns, but I cannot leave the settings until I uncheck this box again.
There is a line saying:
Main Memory 10107 kB free
Storage device not installed
Actual attachment size (0kB)
(translated from German)
I cannot mark a mail with attachments for download.
This option is grayed out!
Help!
Werner

another problem came up:
I downloaded a file with an attachment. It showed up as 61 kB but I do not see the attachment anywhere. It is present though, because if I forward the email to my desktop, it is there.
Is it possible, that with this email crutch it is impossible to see attachments??

Not sure about the entire content of this thread, but I do know there is a way to save attachments directly to your SD CARD instead of BUILT-IN STORAGE.
As you probably already know, Pocket Inbox assumes "Storge Card" in the Inbox options menu to be BUILT-IN STORAGE and not SD card or CF card.
To have Pocket Inbox store attachments directly to an SD card, you need to perform a simple registry change as follows (This assumes that you've already selected the "Store attachments on storage card" in the Inbox Storage option menu as well as "Get full copy of messages" is selected in OPTION 3/3 of EMAIL SETUP 4/4.
(1) Copy the Inbox.mst########.########## (your # will differ) from Built-In Storage to SD Card
(2) In the registry, search for MAPI and change \Built-in Storage to \SD Card
That's it. . . now your attachments will be automatically stored on the SD Card. (Note that the actual message is still stored in RAM under the Windows directory).

What could be the cause, that is impossible for me to keep the Store Attachments box checked?
I cannot leave this menu is this box is checked!

If you right click on the "inbox" on the Activesync screen, you will see a menu that contains the word "settings". Click on "settings" and there is box with options that opens. click on the option to include file attachments. This seemed to work for me. I was having the same problem as you prior to seeing htis post.

Storage of all Inbox emails to CF card instead of inbuilt storage
Please help me. My Axi is not working due to full storage memory.
I have 2000 emails in my Outlook Inbox which I want to sync with Dell Axim 5 Basic. But the inbuilt storage memory is becoming full.
And no programs run.
So I want to transfer the full Inbox emails storage to the CF card from the inbuilt storage memory. And I want it to stay like that every time I sync with Outlook on my pc. So that every time all the inbox emails wiill be stored in the CF card.
PLEASE HELP. Thanks in advance, Sg.

The suggestion of editing the registry by KPDUTY is the best way of putting your attachments on your SD or CF card without any manual steps everytime you have to sync. I am still running PPC2002 on my Ax X5 and my default attachment path is \windows\messaging\attachments. This is the default path in PPC2002 without checking the option to save attachments to the storage card in pocket inbox. For WM2003 the path is different.
Simply go into your registry editor and change the key in \HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MAPI as suggested by KPDUTY. This path can be changed to the SD Card or CF Card. So in my case, I would copy the entire contents of \windows\messaging\attachments to \SD Card\messaging\attachments. I would then change my registry key to reflect \SD Card\messaging\attachments and soft reset my PPC. Now when you sync with your desktop any new email with attachments will go to \SD Card\messaging\attachments automatically and you don't have to select the option to save attachments to the storage card. Much easier than clicking each attachment and marking for download.
This is a well known registry tweak.

SD Card2
Mine does the exact same thing with SD Card. Once I change the registry it creates a new SD Card directory in built-in memory and renames my SD Card SD Card2. Please help!

Found The Fix!
Requires reinstall of card apps once the change is made, but should eliminate the renaming problems.
With a registry editor, you will have to go to the entry listed below:
If you want to use the MMC for attachments:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\ MMC
Change the value in Folder from SD Card to Storage Card
Save the change, exit the registry editor and perform a soft reset.
In Inbox>Tools>Options>Storage tab you should now see the Storage Card size reflecting the free memory of the MMC.
If you want to use the SD Card for attachments:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\ SDMemory
Change the value in Folder from SD Card to Storage Card
Save the change, exit the registry editor and perform a soft reset.
In Inbox>Tools>Options>Storage tab you should now see the Storage Card size reflecting the free memory of the SD Card.
If you want to use the CF Card for attachments:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\ PCMCIA
Change the value in Folder from CF Card to Storage Card
Save the change, exit the registry editor and perform a soft reset.
In Inbox>Tools>Options>Storage tab you should now see the Storage Card size reflecting the free memory of the CF Card.
Thank you for that informatin Luigi. That is definitely another avenue which can be taken but extra care must be taken as you are "hard coding" it into the registry and thus not allowing the Inbox to select an alternative storage area.
With the method of redirecting the attachment path into the SD card, it gives the Inbox no other option to use an alternative path. Which means... the SD card has to be in the Pocket PC 100% of the time and should not be resetted without the SD Card in it as doing so will create an SD Card folder in the RAM which will result in the SD Card being renamed upon insertion as SD Card 2.

[3] Ctitanic The latest version of Tweaks2k2 use the method described by Luigi allowing users to select any of the Storage devices being used at the moment in the PPC.

[4] Carlo Guerrero @Ctitanic: We did encounter several drawbacks using that method though.
If the SD card is pulled out and a soft reset is done, it creates a new SD Card folder in the main memory which then causes the Pocket PC to rename the real SD Card upon insertion as SD Card 2.
Second situation was downloading email with attachments with the card removed. The Pocket PC did not create a new Attachments folder in the Pocket PC, instead, it downloaded the email completely with the attachment not being visible... No way of retrieving it except by clearing out the Inbox and doing the complete download process again.
Since this bypasses the Inbox controls of sending files to the attachments folder monitored by Inbox, the Inbox option to move attachments to a storage card must not be used.
In our User Group mailing list, this was presented as an alternative to the procedure I indicated, but it was posted with a warning that the SD Card must not be removed at all and that a soft reset must not be performed without the SD Card inserted.
Upside to this procedure...
If a lot of applications are already installed, it requires minimal work to get things running.

Hi, I tried the regeditry thing, and it caused my x50 to start showing "SD Card 2" as well as SD Card. I had to change the registry back and delete the "SD Card" from file explorer, any ideas?

Thanks for the info on the Reg key KPDUTY. I've been trying to figure that out. Finding it can be such a pain!
