Hmm SD Reader for the Sandisk problem?

Hi all~

I was wondering if anyone has thought of, or has tried to use a Sandisk SD reader to transfer files then use the card in the Axim instead of transfering files right to the SD card using the Axim? If so what is the result? I want to know before I purchase an SD reader for my Sandisk SD.

Thanks~
Richard

You mean to get around the flaky card problem?

Why would you possibly want to give them MORE money?

I think that idea came up about page 20 in the Sandisk SD card thread (not sure if it was a Sandisk reader though)....

I think when the cards fail they fail to work properly in everything.

I tried what you are talking about, with the exception of using a generic SD card reader...
I had my 128 mb and a 64 mb cards both go bad at about the same time. I tried the reader and it didn't work to solve the problem of the bad cards. The only I got it fixed was having Sandisk mail me two new cards, which they did without any real hassle.
Now I use the reader only on rare occasions if I need to. At this point, I very rarely take my cards out of the Axim. I think that's the only way I am able to keep them from giving me problems.
But using the card reader instead of writing the files to the SD card did not cut it for me.

I had a problem where I lost all my data on a Sandisk SD card whilst moving a back up file to the card. The card appeared hosed.

I bought a generic 6in1 card reader(PQI). I used this to reformat the card and then load the disk. Worked a treat.

Now I only use activesync to sync. Any program loads I do via the card reader. Also it's USB2 so it's light years faster than serial sync. I have not had a problem since.

Buy a card reader
