Dial up problems with cell phone

I need some new help from some advanced user, i was able to get on line with my nextel phone with the serial cable however, all of sudden i am having problems with it saying can't find modem and when it does dial up and connects or so it says i still can't download pages or even connect with aol messenger, it says its can't find server, however it works with my netgear wireless card perfectly. Also, as before when i connect it comes up with an error from active syc that it can connect to computer port and that something is using it. However, i got this message before and it did surf the net fine, I don' t know what settings i might of change to cause this to happen. Also, is there some type of software that works like dial up networking that i use on my notebook that works fine with this nextel phone. Could modem selection as haynes modem be wrong for this Nextel phone? I am using a standard modem on this notebook with fine results.
So what is wrong now with my setup anyone know for sure why i would get this intermittent working of this? I need something like dial up as it is in win98 to use this, something is interfering with my set up.
