Please dear god.. don't make me call tech support....

Hey guys..

I have had my Axim and the fold-out keyboard for almost 10 months now... I have had problems big and small (but being a computer tech.... I managed to work most of them out).

So I pose this question..

"Does anyone know how to keep the soft keyboard (on screen) from popping when you are using the fold-out keyboard??

I know it seems trivial.. but every time I want to enter text on like a website.. I have to close it when it pops up..

Any suggestions are welcome.. but just don't say to switch to one of the other input options for the stylus.. :crooked:

Thanks

Cam.

The state of the keyboard can be determined programatically (somehow). You could write an app to make it disappear when it pops up. Otherwise maybe there's a registry hack or something? someone must know for sure....

I saw a program that creates a blank keyboard to use with that ... it was free, so try surfing the freeware PPC sites ... If i find it, i'll send it your way.

along with other nice tools PHM Pocket PC PowerToys, has a utility to disable the onscreen keyboard. Otherwise there is "zeNokeyboard"

Just the fact that if you select any input other than the keyboard.. You will get some form of pop-up on screen (you even get the small menu bar pop-up w/ Transcriber). And as we all know.. every inch of on that 3.5" screen is precious.. especially when surfing the net..

XKalibuR you rule

I haven't used that site before.. There is so much I still have to learn about the Axim and the current offering of websites... Even though I've had the Axim since December.. I guess I am still learning about using it to its fullest capabilities.

I have to agree with CaminDFW.

I got my Axim for Christmas and had played with it off and on, and then got bored because I hated the case that came with it, and the extra one that was ordered with it. I went into CompUSA, not my favorite store but when I told them I was looking for a case for my Axim they treated me like I had the plauge. So when I bought PocketPC Mag last month and saw the DSI holster I bookmarked it. Then when I saw the add in the back I knew I made the right choice in choosing DELL.

glad it worked out cam. alot of extras are included in the freeware Powertoy and yea that site is great, another one you might want to get is Calendar+ and Task+. both are today screen plugins, the task+ lists all the tasks unlike the pocket outlook which just says how many you have, the calendar you can configure how far ahead you want it to show appointments on the today screen

I have to be honest.. it didn't work out.. :D I have alot of apps that always run on my Ax.. AT2002, Battery & Program Bar.. It is bad enough that I have a fault w/ some program that won't let me access the "menus" under settings.. that suite of programs really "disturbed" the others.. :rolling:

I'll work it out some how...

If you set the transcriber, it shouldn't change anything on the screen but the state of its button.

Yes... I know. .but like I stated in a previous message.. When surfing the net or doing anything on a 3.5" screen.. every fraction of an inch is valuable real estate..

Oh, it's popping that bar up on the bottom? Hrm, I thought I had this gone for a while. Isn't there some way to configure it to not come up?
