Aximsiteactivesyncicon Activesync 4.5 not synching Outlook 2007

I have an Axim 5 running Pocket Pc 2002 v3 11171 (Build 11178)
It used to synchronize perfectly before I upgraded to Outlook 2007. I have installed Activesync 4.5.

I now get the following message "Synchronization cannot start because the desktop computer cannot access necessary information. Restart this computer and synchroniza again. If the problem persists and the deskrop computer is using Oulook 2000, open Outlook then click detect and repair"

The PDA is connected and synchs 'Favorites". It cannot synch any of the outlook data. I can also access the Internet with the PDA connected to the desktop.

I have uninstalled v4.5 and reinstalled it.

I have Sunbelt firewall and enabled the required programs.

I deleted the partnership and created new one.

Restarted my machine and hard reset my PDA.

I have run repair on my .pst file. It looks to me that the problem is just opening the .pst file.

What else can I try?
Thanks,
:rolling:

This problem is sounding very familiar to me - I experienced that same error message with Office 2003 after a (virus caused) rebuild of my main PC this summer.

The post on Microsoft.com only suggests using Active Sync 3.7 or higher. Duh... I remember having some problems with one of the earlier 4.x versions - but 4.5 has been rock-solid for me.

My Axim is running PPC2003 - so it may not have been a totally valid experiment - but having recently updated one of my PCs to Office 2007 I installed Active Sync 4.5. Sorry - it worked.

One thought - have you tried completely disabling your firewall?

Otherwise would suggest uninstalling/reinstalling Office. PITA - but might be worth a try...

Good luck!

Good advice from Drewminnm, I would also be tempted to try an earlier version of Activesync but would probably reverse all the way to AS3.8. It might not be as pretty but it was effective.

Conversely, I would avoid switching off your firewall completely unless you are disconnected from the Internet.

BTW, welcome to Aximsite, Maria Pand Drewninnm

There is also a recent upgrade to Mobile Office that might help, added compatibility for later versions of office on the PC for PPC!

I think I may have applied those myself... Good advice!

And to the suggestion that one should d/c the Internet before turning off a firewall - yes!

Thanks,
D

ActiveSync and OUtlook 2007

Hi everybody,
thanks for the suggestions. The problem is that for some reason ActiveSync cannot open Outlook 2007 pst file. I cannot istall a previous version since it will not support 2007, and the firewall is not blocking the actual communication.

Any other ideas will be welcome!
Thanks,
Maria:)

Aximsiteactivesyncicon ActiveSync problem resolved

Thanks for all your input. I uninstalled ActiveSync again, updated Office 2007 and then reinstalled ActiveSync. It is now synching.
Also, I think that the first time I uninstalled ActiveSync, I did not choose to remove the synchronization folder.
