Aximsitex50icon GlobalSat BC-337 SiRF Star III CF(Compact Flash) GPS Receiver

Hi,
I am using iGO as my GPS program. I would like to install on my Dell Axim X5 the GlobalSat BC-337 SiRF Star III CF(Compact Flash) GPS Receiver
Please advice if it is working well, if you have experience with the BC-337 antenna.
Happy New Year

I have the BC337 running on my X5 and using TomTom Nav 5.
The system works extremely well. I get a very good signal from the unit plugged in the CF slot on a window mount without any external antenna. Most of the time I have full signal strength showing on TomTom.

I use this GPS in my x51v with tomtom 6. It works awesome. I have used it for over a year in places like the Arctic, Australia, Hawaii, California, Alaska, Canada (east and west coast). I have even used it in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. I use it with and without the external antenna but both work good although the external gets a better lock while travelling on city streets with high buildings.

If I may ask, what settings does the CF slot require within software for the GPS card to be recognized? Which com port is the CF and what baud rate?

hi there.

I use this combination for both memory map and tomtom6.

I use CF COM 5, baud 4800 and NMEA protocol.

This is for best compatibility - however it is possible to use other protocols at higher baudrate, not that you'll see much advantage.
