Directional Pad - Replacing

I just bought an X5 but its directional pad is absoutely horrible. I'm thinking of opening it up and doing some work on it, I have experience with this kind of thing. Can someone point me in a good direction or give me some advice about how to fix it? Has anyone done it themselves?

Just 6 phillips screws on back under rubber feet.

Take off the side rubber panels. Read other posts about this. There really is no danger in you trying to take the case apart. Try to remove the top panel, as opposed to the bottom first since the speaker cable is rather short, and would make it tough to pull the bottom pane from the motherboard. Also, you won't have to worry about any screen disassembly since you're going to focus on the top cover. You might want to clean the screen really well now that it will be 100% exposed.

Having said that - I don't know what kind of success you would have simply by removing the cover to fix your joystick.

I mean, if the component is worn out, household items won't be able to fix that. I don't want to discourage you.

I will also tell you that, in general, the x5 joystick is much worse than the x50 family. Perhaps you have experience with them - I don't know.

All I know is that I prefer 100% stylus on the 5 model.
