I've had my Axim now for a week. The main battery charges up fine, but the backup battery says it's at 90%. Does the backup battery charge or does it constantly go down, until I have to buy a new one?

Thanks for the input.

The backup battery is only a button battery. It does not charge, but only costs about $3 to replace.

How does the backup battery go down, when the main battery hasn't gone down? Doesn't it run off the main battery and then switch to backup?

And when you replace the backup battery, do you lose all your stored programs or does the main battery take over?

Sorry for all the ?s

The backup bat indicator can show large changes due temperature and minute changes of battery voltage.
Most say it's not important until you get down below 30-40%.
The backup is not supposed to be used unless the main is removed or depleted, but simply measuring the voltage of it continuously will have a slight effect.

You'll want to check your unit to make sure the backup battery is functioning properly, since some have reported loss of data when removing the main battery. Create a backup-restore file first on your PC.

My backup battery has bounced around from 90 to 100% since I started using my Axim. I figure it is temp related.

same here and no problems with it. i have even used mine w/out a backup battery for a couple of days (since it was missing in the box and took me a while to get my hands on one). Did not have any problems at all

Mine stayed at 100% for the first 3 days, and last night it was at 90%, and today it is down to 80%. What's going on? My main battery has never been below 96%. Isn't the backup only supposed to kick in when the main is depleted?
