No Program Memory Available

HI.

I've loaded and unloaded a bunch of apps on my PPC, and have been planning on doing a hard reset to rebuild it with system files all cleaned up.

I've been putting it off for a while.

Today I went to run a program, and click Start->Programs and nothing happens; the Axim stays on, the Start pull down goes away and I am left at the Today Screen.
I stopped everything from running, and checked my memory, there is over 20 Meg free.
I tried to start Contacts or Calendar - I get a pop up that says No program memory available, and it directs me to stop running programs.
I tried to start several other applications and mostly nothing happens.
Resco File Explorer runs - thankfully, so I have moved files from main memory to my memory cards!
A couple of other things run.
Soft reset does nothing to change the situation, except it starts up Theme King (and I tried changing the theme, but that didn't help either).

I can get to Start->Settings, so I uninstalled superfluous items.
Still no change in operation.

I have a few more apps installed, but don't think removing them will help.
I about to do my first hard reset since I got my Axim (in March) and wondered if anyone else has had this problem?

I'd like to sync one more time, but that isn't working either.

Any suggestions? Or am I resolved to a hard reset?

Will Activesync run? If it will, you can use the Explore function from the desktop to move files off the AX until it starts to run better. Then get a card (SD or CF) to put some of that stuff on and keep main memory free.

Also, if Activesync will run, Explore into the Windows/startup directory and see what's kicking off on soft reset. YOu can delete some of the shortcuts there and soft reset and they won't start up automatically.

Active sync will not run.

I copied everything I could from main menory to my memory cards.

The only two things that start on soft reset are theme king and icbar. And, these don't seem to be causing the problem, as I can stop them.

you should load some apps on a sd card

(uncheck the install to defult when syncing apps)

then you have more space and the sd card fits perfectly in so no space like with cf. also you can use cf modems, etc.

it only takes a smallsd card since internal ax mem for apps is usualy set to around 26 mb

I had tons of free space according to the memory display.
I think I just installed/uninstalled too many apps, and I finally hit the limit.
I took the hit yesterday, did a hard reset, and installed things I know I want to use.
BTW I have a 256Meg CF and a 256Meg SD card in my Axim all the time.
