Need help with Hawking 10/100 Fast Ethernet CF card

Hi All,

I just got a great Axim X5 400 on eBay, that included a Hawking 10/100 Fast Ethernet CF+ Card. I updated the OS to PPC 2003 and did a hard reset. Now I need to reinstall the drivers.

I got the PPC 2003 driver from the Hawking site and unzipped them, but there is no setup.exe or any .cab files, just .inf, .sys, and a DLL.

I have ActiveSync 4.2, and can connect fine, but I don't know what to do with these files (I'm a Pocket PC newbie.)

Does anyone else have this card on a PPC 2003 Axim X5? Can you enlighten me about how to install this driver properly?

Thanks, Max

Hi,
Sorry I wasn't more specific...

The Axim is an X5, 400 MHz. The ROM is PPC2003 (A05).

I'm not entirely sure of the Hawking card's model number. There is a sticker above the serial number sticker with numbers, but nothing denoted as a model number. The sticker says: "00E098 A02D21"

Just in case the model is hidden in one of these, the FCC ID is "MQ4CFE100," and the serial number is "HABT686-02360055."

That's all the numbers on the card. Unfortunately, it didn't come with any documentation.

Regards,
Max

download the drivers here

http://www.hawkingtech.com/downloads.php?file_id=2930

create a new folder on your desktop which youll use temporarily

run the exe you downloaded and extract the contents of the file to the folder you just created.

browse to the windows folder (in the folder you just created), there should be a file called wince.exe

please remove any compact flash cards from the device, soft reset your device then cradle your device and establish an activesync connection so that your device is ready (connected/synced)

create a new folder and run the wince.exe file, extract the files from this installer to that folder.

the installer will extract the necessary files and start the install to your device.

after the install is complete, soft reset your device. wait until the os is fully loaded (start menu is ready to use etc) then install your ethernet cf card and test functionality. check for activity lights, and test the included software utility for connectivity and functionality

have fun!

jd, you're batting 100% for me. I'm as networked as I could ever want to be. Thanks so much for the help. I've seen other postings around the net from folks having problems with these cards. If I can find them again, and with your permission, I'll post your advice and send them toward Axim Site.

Thanks again!

Max
