I finally decided to get an Axim Advanced, but the $50 rebate is no longer vailid. Does anyone know if there are deals on the Axim right now? Or will there be in the next week or two? Does Dell usually, roll out new promotions at the beginning of the month? Also, I have read that if you buy the USB Sync cradle, it does not come with the ability to charge, you need to buy an adapter to do that. However the description of the USB Cradle states "This cradle also has its own power DC connection - the same connector located on the bottom of the Axim X5 handheld" So, if I buy an extra USB cradle will it be able to charge? Does the USB Sync Cable charge the Axim? Is the extra battery worth it? I will leave it in the cradle while I am at work, so it should stay charged. How good is the warranty? Specifically, is the extended warranty worth the $$? I assume it will not cover me dropping the Axim, however, how strict are they on refusing to replace one with a cracked screen? Thanks!

I ordered the spare cradle and it didn't come with a power adapter. Icalled Dell and their rep said that it came with one. Then I got the box and it didn't have the power cable for it. I called Dell again and this rep said that it doesn't come with the power adapter. It's hard trying to get a straight answer out of them.

Check out the hot deals forum. We all post as we find stuff. You can also check Fat Wallet. Sometimes you can come up with deals there, too.

I'm with you. It seems that every person you talk to at Dell has a different answer to the same question. Hopefully, they will get it together sooner rather than later .

Anyway, I just got the extra cradle with serial cable that I ordered for my hubby's Axim. There is no power cable. Luckily I have an extra one so I don't have to spend half my day trying to get thru Dell's automated phone system to talk to a live person.

I also think Dell is misleading with this issue. Their website shows the cradle in the accessories list and mentions how it can be used to charge (at least that's how it used to read. I haven't looked in a while). That's true, but only if you also have the power adapter to attach to it.

I know there were some early posts where people have complained about the misleading info and were given an adapter. If you don't mind spending time trying to work through Dell's convoluted phone system (I've sworn that I will never call them again and I've always kept these promises to myself in the past), then there may be hope. Ask to speak with a manager. The ones answering the phones may not have the authority to give you one.

Come on people, what is so hard to understand that the power supplies plugs into the cradle. It is not like you can use the Axim while on the cradle.

It's not a matter of how the power adapter attaches - the site says the cradle charges the Axim. It doesn't say "if you also buy a power adapter to plug into the cradle" it can charge the Axim.

It becomes an issue for people that buy a second cradle to use on a second computer and believe from the website that it will also charge.

I have not bought one myself and, in fact, don't use the cradle I already have, but I still believe their site is misleading.
