sandisk card reader help if anyone can?????

Ok i got the imagemate 6 in 1 card reader/writer basically for my CF card and my SD card, for my axim :) which is still yet to arrive. Ok here goes. I plugged the usb in my computer and it finds the cardreader but it says it has problems with it. Basically when i went to the hardware profile it had 4 exclamation points next to the drives (4 drive for the 4 slots on the reader), so it has some problems. What it says for the error is "The specefied service does not exist as an installed service". I do not know what the heck that is. So i thought maybe there was something wrong with my card reader. I hooked it up to my laptop and and it worked PERFECTLY . I hooked it back to my desktop and still the same problem, but when i go to MY COMPUTER it shows the extra 4 drives and i can read and write perfectly. but the problem is it still shows the exclamation and everytime i restart my computer it tries to install the writer all the time and ends on with the exclamation mark as i said. I know this is probably the wrong section to put this in but hey i need it for my AXIM so i thought i try :), plus when i did read and write that sucker is FAST. I do not have USB 2.0 but it took about 6 minutes to copy 125 megs to my computer from the card i thought that was good speed for 1.1, but if anyone can decipher my message and can help i appreaciate it thanxs!!!!!

It's trying to tell you that the drivers for the imagemate are not working properly. Did you get any installation software with the reader? It may have the drivers for your operating system on the CD or floppy, if you got one.

Are your PC running XP or ME? XP and ME have build in USB host driver which do not required any extra driver installation. If your PC is running on XP or ME and still gets those problem you better go to Microsoft.com and search their database for an answer.

I have XP pro, I checked the website and it had some kind of wierd soulution in the FAQ about some keys in the registry and i tried that no luck, and the software it came with they do not have drivers on there ( NO INF files), all that was on there was software i tried it no luck there, i am just baffled. Both my laptop and my desktop have 100% exact same software. Hardware OF COURSE IS DIFFERENT. and to my desktop i have a lot of USB things hooked up to it never had a problem, i even tried the reader without anything hooked up to the USB Slots no go, this suxs i hate returning stuff

If it works on the laptop and not the desktop, it's not the reader, it's the desktop. At the web site the note on the registry edit has this:

NOTE: THE BELOW MAYAPPEAR UNDER ALL CONTROL SETS INCLUDING CURRENT CONTROL SET; ENTRIES SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM ALL CONTROL SETS.

Did you remove the SanDisk entries from all control sets? I'd try that again, then unplug the reader, reboot, then plug in the reader and let XP find it. Of course, backup the registry before you edit it...
