New owner of the x5

I don't have the owner's manual and don't know where the back up battery is. I'm getting the message that it's low and needs to be charged. How do I do that or where can I find a copy of the owner's manual?

So far, I'm loving this machine!

Thanks. Looks like I have to replace the back up battery. That one doesn't recharge correct?

To be honest, I don't know, never had an X5.

Thank you. I'll probably replace it anyway. Can't hurt.

You are right -- it doesn't recharge. But it is an easy-to-find battery. When I had an X5, I purchased batteries in the camera battery section at CVS. Should only be about $3 max.

If you replace it, and it still shows as bad or low, do a search through the forums -- there was a problem going around with the back up battery level not showing up. I followed advice in the forums to fix it at the time -- but I can't remember exactly what the problem was!! I am sure it is archived here somewhere, though.

Hey, breckrider - welcome to Mobilitysite and the world of Pocket PCs! You will be amazed at the things you can do with your Axim.

Before buying a new battery, check your current one to make sure that the battery makes a good connection to the device and is clean (no oils). Check to be sure that the contact terminals are making a good connection, if not you can carefully bend them to make a better connection.

Turn your X5 over, the backup battery is in the small opening at the upper left corner. Open the hatch with a stylus or ball-point pen, the battery is inside. The battery is not rechargeable. You can buy them at Batteries Plus or other battery stores.
