Apps on CF card

I recently rebuilt my Axim, and installed everything I could on my 256 Meg CF card. (I had tried using my 256Meg SD card, but too many things couldn't load and those that would wouldn't run.)

Now, it seems like EVERYTHING is running slower. Turn on the Axim, and I have to wait for about 10 - 30 seconds before I can do anything with it. And, the things I tried to start during that time are activated at once.

I'm talking about just the START button to get to apps.
I'm running ThemeKing (on CF) and IcBar (on main memory, no option for anything else), and usually close everything else.
When I shut these down, I still get a lag (closer to 5 seconds).

Anyone else experience this?

Is it just the difference in speed of internal versus CF memory? Or is it something I can set up differently?

I'm thinking I'll reinstall these into main memory, but I really liked having the extra memory.

There is a speed difference... It's probably a matter of compromising between commonly used apps in internal memory and less oft used apps in CF.

Do you have a My Documents folder on the card? I find without one, everything slows substantially more than it does if one is present. If you don't already have it, add one then delete the ignore_my_docs file which was created by the OS.

I created the My Documents on my SD, the CF already had one, and deleted the ignore files. It looks to be a little better, but I'll let you know after using it today.
