Since both 400 MHz and 300 MHz units share the same BUS speed, how is there a justifiable difference in performance. Both will bottleneck at the same BUS speed. <_<

I bought my 400 axim over the 300 mainly for the extra ROM and RAM(you can never have enough), and secondarily not having to buy a cradle. I half thought the extra processing power would be neglible, but i didn't think it would be under a 10% performance improvement.

very happy with my 400.

I have played with both and could not tell a difference. I just decided to go with the 400 MHz because it comes with more ROM and that awesome cradle.

... And who knows, if it breaks at some point maybe they will replace it with one of the new 400MHz X-Scale models. Its a win win situation. If it doesn’t break .. GREAT! If it does, maybe you'll get an upgrade.

I decided on the 300 because I would save $100. With that money I got the cradle upgrade and figured that the remaining $70 would get me a sweet SD or CF card with much more memory than the difference between the 300 and 400.

All good logic. The 400 allows you to turn down the processor speed to 200. When I do so, I do notice a difference in response time.

I got the 400 for two reasons:

1. The 64 Meg RAM. I found my previous 32 Meg machine constrained in what it could run.

2. The 48 Meg ROM. MS has advised manufacturers not to assume that the O/S will continue to fit in 32 Meg ROM. It does now, with about 5 meg to spare, but there's no guarantee that the next release will. I'm betting on bloat.
