hi all, i've downloaded a file (onto my laptop) for counting points for weight watchers and when it is unzipped there is a .prc file extention. i'v put a couple programs on the device but they were exe. files. when i double click to get it to the device an error comes up that i don't have a program to open this file. any help in getting this program on my dell would be great.. thank you one-eye

There seem to be three possibilities:
  • Corel Presentation File (seems unlikely to me, but, if it is a Corel file, on Windows it can be opened using Corel Presentations (part of Corel WordPerfect Office))
  • Palm Resource Code File (more likely and you won't be able to open it on your X5)
  • Mobipocket eBook File (DRM) (most likely if your application is definitely for the X5 and you should go to Mobipocket for the reader software)

Jogga has probably answered your question, but

Giving us the name of the program or the website you downloaded it from would help us tell you what the problem is.
You don't have enough posts to put a direct link in your post, but if you paste the web address then put a space in it, e.g. between the colon and the forward slashes, it won't be a link.

You will probably be able to open it on your Windows Mobile device if you have StyleTap

'freewarepalm.com' is the website and the program is called dietcalc. i also have a program called ww_points_calculator.pdb from the site "en.handybyte.com/cat/health/diet/ww-points-calculator-for-handbas"
i'm really just trying to get a simple weight watchers point counter to put on my axim x5.
any suggestions or someone that knows where i could get a program like that would be great. Thank you...one-eye

Well, the first application is for the Palm OS, so it won't work on your PPC. The second app, seems to be an add-in for Handbase and you'll need the software to open it (here).

If you want a free diet application, try FreewarePPC or Tucows and do a search. If you're feeling a bit flush, go to the Aximsite store and have a look at what's on offer there (usually better than the free stuff)
