Battery life on Axim X5

Hey all,

I'm wondering what kind of battery life I can expect on the Axim X5 Basic and Advcaned, running off of the 1440 mAh battery or the 3400 mAh battery.

are you using extras like wifi or gps?

normal use maybe 5-6 hours on 1440, i've never really drained all the way although one time I forgot it on overnight playing mp3's about 11hours with the display off. with the linksys wifi I'd say around 3hrs max.

with my 3800 I havent tested either.. but i get 5 or 6 hours with wifi, without i'd probably get around 10 or more. I never let it drain more than 30% on either anyway because I can just charge it in the cradle. It will also depend on your brightness and how much cpu you're using. I usually have mine above the mid level which is pretty bright and in 400mhz

axim has one of the best battery life versus other pocketpcs

Hmm, sounds like the 3400 mAh battery is essential then. How come iPaq's which run off of a 900 mAh battery can get 8 hours out of them?

don't know but I do know that those use a lower power consuming processor. and if you're reffering to exact number of hours its hard to really tell, I just estmated from my use. I don't have a battery benchmark to fully test..

i pull between 3-4 hours a charge..

Most the time im either playing games or music or video, hardly ever just simple callender and email.. so im sure that makes the battery time pretty short

With the standard battery, I get around five hours. With the extended battery, I manage to get around 13-15 hours.

1440 mah batt will last over 6 hours straight playing mp3s on medium volume through speaker with backlight off.

it can last over 11 hours if not doing anything but displaying the green field today screen at one notch below default brightness.

i watched a 90+ minute movie on my ax last night, started at 100%, still had 82% when it finished.

the 1440mah battery will last for weeks if the axim is in suspend/off mode. (the RAM drains a tiny amount of power in order to preserve data.)

The battery might only last a couple of hours playing Quake for PPC tho.

i dont really recommend the 3400 mah because 1) it's bigger than the 1440 and sticks out somewhat on the back side, 2) it's heavier, and 3) it costs more.

it will, however, almost triple your battery life.

Probaly the same reason that the x5 and its 1440mah battery is draining at the same rate as the 950mah battery in another PPC I am reviewing. CPU consumption?
