Worried Music File Storage

Hi I just wanted to know something: How many mp3's Can you put on a 128 MB Cf slot. Just wondereing cause If you burn mp3's on a cd (CD's Usally Hold 700 MB) You only get like 20-25 songs on the cd. So How much can you fit on 128 CF?:crooked:

It depends on the size of the song. I think a general rule of thumb for Mp3s encoded at 128K is 1 meg a minute. So, you could fit roughly 128 min on a 128meg card.

I convert all music that I put on my Axim to Windows Media. It sounds fine at 64K, so I can fit double the music on my 2 256 Meg cards.

I'm talking like 2-3 mins per song.

When ypu burn "mp3's" to a 700 mb cd you can get hundresds of songs. You only get 20-25 songs if you burn the files as music files.

Most of my mp3's are 2-5 mb at 128k, so do the math. I guess you can get anywhere form 20-30. Hope this helps.

I put about 20 songs onto my 128MB CF card. I could've fit more if I didn't encode them at 192kbps.

I forgot to add- I used Windows Media Player on my PC to encode my music fils in .wma format, not .mp3. This is supposed to make them a bit smaller. I didn't use the lowest setting for sampling so my files are not as small as they could be.

of course, memory cards dont actually come with the advertised amount of memory. a 128MB card will actually give you about 122.5MB tops.

so you have to recalculate the number of minutes for the actual amount of memory in your card....the following figures are based on my experience.

Explicit :: Actual (varies, depending on cheapness of company....non-Japan cards are usually the worst)
32MB :: 30.5MB
64MB :: 60MB
128MB :: 120-122.5MB
256MB :: 237-243.88MB
512MB :: 488MB

the discrepancies are justified because there is more than one way of counting memory, so dont expect to win any lawsuits....

I know what you mean. Once I get my credit card paid off, I am buying a 1 GB card. Then I am going to use my 512 for a few of my favorite movies, like Shrek.

I know what you mean. My MMC is for my e-books. My 128 MB CF right now has Shrek on it, and my 512 MB CF is for programs (and themes).
