I used to do it pretty frequently but after doing the ROM upgrades and realizing I could get everything back pretty easily just by reinstalling (and end up with a faster Axim), I don't worry so much. Now I only do it when I'm installing a new program. That way, I can back up to just before the installation easily if there's any conflict.

Having some databases on my Ax that would be hard to replace, I backup daily. Using Pocket Backup Pro, it is nothing more than placing my Ax in the cradle and clicking on an icon in my PC's tray. An easier way is to schedule the backup using Pocket Backup Pro. My daily backups have saved my back side on more than one occasion.

I backup every 3-4 days also, its been only 2x I've had to hard reset, but the restore takes so little time, its becoming less and less of a headache for me.

Plus I download alot of trialware, so sometimes I get hosed with a bad app or something, and the quick restore saves me there too.

My Ax backs up every time I connect to my PC via Active Sync. Since I keep the PPC connected on my work computer the whole day, it's not a big deal. Is this right, wrong, comments???
