Trollies, fresh trollies here! :)

He said in another thread he was not gonna get an ax, but spend more on an Ipaq. My guess would be he never owns either and talks himself out of it altogether.

1. I don't own a PPC of any sort.
2. I go to aximsite instead of other sites because this is the best PPC site I could find, minor draw-back is that you all worship the Axim.
3. The problem with the Axim is the build quality, they just don't always work. Now, if I could buy an Axim at the store, then if it doesn't work, I get it exchanged right then and there, that would be fine. Problem is, is that Axim's along with all Dell products have to be purchased directly from them.

where are you getting this build quality thing from?

The three I owned were all in great condition. 2 were even refurbs. I have yet to hear about any major build flaws. I've certainly heard nothing that would make me think the axim is built any worse than an Ipaq.

Another thing to consider is this, Many people decided to return Axims and fake problems and such in order to get a "newer" processor or OS. This is not a good thing and somewhat dishonest, but it happens. There are many here that openly admitted to such actions.

I usually find that the only thing worst than idiots are idiots with initiative...

you dare make posts about things you dont know and then even defend them?

First off Dell REALLY screwed up on the 2003 thing... that out of the way, the Axim works and it works well, that would be the only reason for such huge sales of it. If it didnt worked people wouldnt have bought it. Second of all if you have a problem with your Ax you can receive a replacement next or second day without even having to go to the store.

Those are facts, not "I have heard", "I read", "I have been told" BS posts without any basis from someone without an Axim. This site does rock, but as with any forum what really brings it down are posts that have no basis on facts like yours.

most of the refurbs have add-ons. Extra batteries, screen protectors, etc...

276 is also a temp price. 15% off handhelds. so in a day or two the refurb price will be much lower

you dont own one so what would you know about the build quality. I've dropped mine once and from the more extreme stories i've heard, they are pretty durable.

You could have gotten the Axim X5 400MHz Pocket PC + 512MB Compactflash $350 last week with $30 off $400, 10% on Software and Peripherals, and $20 rebate from Kingston. Now...That's a deal.

Just to let you know, it's actually going to be much worse of an exchange policy at a retail store. At a store, you have usually 14 days up front that you can bring it in store for an immediate replacement.....and that's if they even have any more in stock. After the 14 days (or possibly 30 days if you're lucky), you can go to the store to get help....But they won't exchange it over the counter for you. They're going to ship it off to their service department (or the manufacturer) to get it fixed for you. This process cannot be sped up, and can actually take weeks to get your fixed (or replaced) PDA back. By the way, it doesn't matter if you have the Best Buy (or whoever) Extended Service Policy or not.....this is the way they still handle it.

With Dell, you don't even have to get off your butt. You simply call them up, and a replacement will get shipped out to you within a few days. Send them back the broken one, and everything is now happy happy again....in just a matter of days. :) And this is good for an entire year, or more if you buy their extended warranty.

Alrighty, I'll respond in no particular order, most likely recent posts first.

1. You do have a point there, and with the BBY Extended Exchange Policy or whatever it is (Never used it and never will) they actually tend to give you a brand new one up front. My friend bought a notebook, 6 months later it broke, brought it in, got a much nicer one at no cost on the spot.

2. As far as Dell service goes, the PPC2003 issue (Took Months for em' to come, just came a few weeks ago I hear), and the issue that firmware A05 fixed when it comes to build quality, a bug like that should have been found in the beta stages, it is a problem that makes me want to stay away from Dell.

3. All but the lowest end iPaq's have on-board Bluetooth, which is really nice, Synch up with your computer wirelessly, no need for a stupid card.

4. HP in my mind is a much better company, and they don't charge Sales Tax from thier site for MN, Dell does. That, of course, HP being a better company is an opinion.
