Ok, I'll try to explain this as best I can. In the center of my screen there is a "patch" of what looks oil. Like when it rains and the oil on the ground from cars make that rainbow color (hopefully that makes some sort of sense). It's about 1 inch wide and 2 inches long right in the center. I've tried wiping it off with a cloth but I think it's under the screen. I don't have (and haven't had) a screen protector on and this wasn't there yesterday...I just noticed it this morning. If I drag the stylus over it it "moves", kind of. It's not extremely noticeable, but annoying nonetheless.

I didn't have anything setting on it last night, I just had it in the case as usual. I'll give it a couple of days and see if it goes away, if it doesn't I guess I'll call Dell and see what they have to say about it. Does anyone here have any experience with this kind of thing? Should I be worried?

I have not had that trouble. You might want to call Dell now... it might take you a couple of days to get to a live person on the phone :(

Oh, that sounds like a big problem! I still remember the fisrt time i found the same problem happened to my other LCD product. Usually if you apply too much pressure to any LCD sceen that can easily damage the screen and left a mark that look like oil.. :( I will suggest you wait for one or two days, if nothing change you might want to call Dell as fast as posible...

Yep, judging by both of your comments I think I'll call Dell on Friday (or Saturday if they're open). I've been very careful not to apply too much pressure to the screen, although mainly to protect it from scratches, so I don't think that's the cause of the problem.

Thanks for your replies!

Sounds like moisture under the screen or more likely between the LCD and the touch sensitive screen. Call Dell ASAP

I have the same problem, but I am using a screen protector. When I take my protector off, the pattern goes away rather quickly. Let me know what Dell tells you.

IMO you should give Dell a call tonight. Why wait a couple of days? Especially since you don't use screen protectors...... Dell can't say it is the screen protectors fault. Please let us all know what Dell says.

Ok, I finally called Dell and they're sending me a new Ax...they say it'll be here within 2-3 business days. I wonder if it'll actually get here that fast, or maybe they aren't having the delay problems now like they were when I ordered mine.

Anyway, judging by Cheryl's comment I was expecting to wait on hold for all eternity...I don't think I waited more than 30 seconds. I'm so glad I did a full backup right before I called them because the guy had me do a hard reset. I tried to explain to him that it wasn't a software problem, but I imagine they have a guideline they follow on stuff like this.

Again, thanks for all your input!
