All,

I have started noticing something over the last few days and maybe someone, somewhere has seen something like this. But it seems over the day, my memory (For running system stuff) seems to be slowly draining away. It will start off with 12 MB or so, and then by the end of the day, I am down to 4 MB. And I have nothing running on it really. Active sync while it is connected. I will disconnect and terminate active sync and still the memory is at the same point. If I power it off and back on (The Ax), the same issue. The only way I can find is to do a soft reset and it frees it back up to around the 12 meg mark.

Below is a list of what is on the today page running and maybe someone knows something about something.
(From top to bottom)
Date:
Owner:
Today Plus (to show battery and mem card useage)
Theme Switcher (From Microsoft)
Calendar Plus (Expanded to 2 days)
Tasksplus
And the inbox
(Active sync in the background)

I have not really loaded anything in the last week or so, or I would rip that program out. It just started happening since about last Sunday or monday and I was wondering if anyone has seen this.

Thanks for the help in advance.

A memory leak has to do the programing of a certain program, not with the hardware of the unit. Debug and see if you can see someting in the code that doesn't look right. There is developers tools out there you can get for free, to use for debugging.
This is a trend we are seeing with software manufactures: They use the end-users as their QA department. Then they just send out patches.

good luck locating the problem, I'll see what I can do about reproducing the problem, and then we can come up with a fix together.

As a matter of tracking, Since I posted this problem approx 3 or so hours ago, It (Available sys memory) has gone from 12 to 7 and I have not touched a thing, not used active sync or anything. Just a really weird problem. I know it is one of the things I listed in the above post, but now it looks like I am going to have to strip things off, one by one to see what happends.

Stead04,

I too was having the same problem for a long time. And also running the same apps that you have mentioned.

As the other member suggested using developers tools, this could help you. If you do use these tools kindly post your findings and inform us how these tools can be used.

Anyway, as I mentioned earlier that I too was having the same problem. I did the following to find out what's eating the memory.
I basically, did a "Hard Reset" and re-installed all the applications one by one with a couple of hours time break in between the installation of each application. Through this process I found out that "Task Plus" was leaking the memory. Although this app is excellent I love this app but due to memory problem I removed it and since then my Axim's memory leak has stopped.

That was just a hit and trial method. Before you rollup your sleves and try my procedure, I suggest just remove Task Plus, give it a day and see if your Axim still experiencing the memory leak.

On the other hand if you figure out some other way (which lets you run the Task Plus) let me know.

I'll second Axim5's findings about TaskPlus. It does appear to have a substantial memory leak. It didn't bother me too much while using it because I've set my X5-400 to allow for 38MB Program (running) memory.

After a couple days use I'd be up to ~17MB in use and a soft-reset would bring me back to 6-8MB.

I've since switched to Agenda Fusion and removed TaskPlus and have very little leakage now.

Chris...
