Question Closing programs

Whenever I "close" a program with the typical windows "X" in the upper right hand corner the program doesn't actually close. It appears to minimize or something. The program is removed from the screen, but if I check the swicher bar it states that the program is still running. I have to close all programs from the switcher bar in order for the program to actually close. I've performed a soft reset but this hasn't helped.

Is this normal?

Yes it is normal. In order for you to be able to actually close programs, you need to download a task manger software. There are plenty of them that are free. Check the download section on this site.

yes, this is normal. it may not make a whole lot of sense, but it is normal.

there are some 3rd party add-ons (like icbar) which put an "X" on the screen that will actually close the program when you click on it (among many other things).

OK now I just think I'm stupid. I've downloaded a couple of task manager apps, butr when i try to install them i get messages that say either there are no files to extract, or there is no program associated with the app. what's going on?

Mbutton and task manager, both downloaded from Aximsite downloads page. Exactly how do I install these using active sync?
I tried copying this apps to My device and then syncing but that didn't work.

Never mind I figured it out. I'm not sure why it didn't work before. I succesfully installed Mbutton and it's working beautifully. Thanks for the help.

Magic Button is really helpful, but after having it a few weeks, my Axim got really buggy and would end up corrupting the Active Sync 3.5 app on my PC (it would start with the tasks box "greying out" , therefore not letting me sync tasks etc., and then further degrade until I needed to cold-reset and re-install everything). This happened to me twice. After I left Magic Button off, I never had the problem again.
So, not sure if it was Magic Button or not, but I just decided to use a workaround by using Dell's Task Manager, and either close all the applications at once , or close them one by one.
