Question Music Player

How come everybody uses a third-Party Music Player. What's wrong with Windows Media Player?

I use ogg format. WMP doesn't support it. But when streaming audio I use WMP.

Does WMP support MP3? Don't you have an MP3 to try on your Axim?

The Help file says that WMP can play ASF, WMA, WMV, and MP3 files. Works just fine for me.

Use WMA. It's microsoft's format but using winamp to write is dead easy. It's much smaller than mp3. I couldn't stand 64kbps mp3 but 64kbps WMA is ok for a portable player.

My big gripe with WMP is the playlist sorting. It really sucks. It can't get numbered tracks in the right damn order. I'm working on an app to fix that, while doing that I'm trying PocketMusic....

MP3 is certainly one of the "weaker" formats. You should consider WMA or OGG.

So then in using the WMA format I have to use the Windows Media Player that was supplied with the X5? I loaded some MP3's on a CF card that I have, and love the way it sounded, However I was listening to it with my Bose Queit Comfort Headphones also. ( Not to be a name dropper or anything )!! LOL!! If there is a better application to use, will check out some of the programs mentioned already in this thread. Thanks for the info... As always appreciate it. :D

<DumbQuestion>
How do you get MP3's to the Axim?
</DumbQuestion>

Every time I try to copy one, it tells me I don't have permission to copy that filetype. But I don't see anywhere to grant permissionc

WHen you click EXLPLORE from your activesync just browse and go to somewhere like Program Files, and try to create a new folder just to test it, and once you get the folder created, drag and drop mp3 files from your PC to your axim that way, you shouldn't get any permission problem that way. Also, I love WMP's Mp3 support. So far it is the best mp3 player I have used. And yes, I have all of the current commercial Mp3 players from conduit Pocket PLayer to all others out there, and they all miss something wmp gives me, and all of the others have problems with volume slider, once you slide it, it acts like master and give a brief mute.. So I decided not to use any other but only WMP.. and what's with the skins.. Who are we showing off, as long as it plays my 320kbps encoded mp3's, I don't care how it looks.. Also I just LOVE the wmp's MUSIC ONLY skins.. You just load them, and that's it.. once you get one of the tools to just turn off your screen, or use another player to turn the screen off, you are all set....

Good luck with all other players.. ;)
