Whats a good substitute that comes with a today plug in, I'm currently using calendar +, facelift, and batterypack
I tried out agenda fusion, but that has a virtual today program which I won't be able to use facelift and batterypack on.

Depending on my needs at that specific time, is how and which programs I use on my Axim....let me explain. I find that the Micro$oft Calendar program that was provided is completely lacking and pretty much useless. I found that Agenda Fusion had an excellent Month, Week, and Daily calendar, hence I installed it and began using it.

Although it would be nice to have everything packed in on the Today Screen, I found that the more you pack on that screen, the slower the unit will run. I get frustraded after closing a program having to wait 4-5 seconds for the Today Screen to refresh all 90 application plugins that I would like on my Today Screen. So, since I don't need all those plugins all the time I found the following solution works really well for me.

On the Today Screen, I have the date, then I also use Launcher, a free and very low memory demand program for quick launch icons, and leave up the M$ appointments and tasks. Granted, these appointments and tasks will not give details to the individual appointments and tasks, but it let's you know that you have X number of them. I take care of the specifics of the individual ones as you will see in a moment. I am also trying out Battery Pack 2003 for it's battery, memory, and storage monitoring, along with it's couple of quick links to the Today plugin and a few others. The jury is still out on this app, but so far, I like it better than some of the other battery monitoring apps. The bottom line is only having these on the Today Screen does not really slow down the refresh rate of the Today Screen or the unit, and it gives links and general info that I need at a glance.

Now for the specifics.....

The Calendar........I've mapped the calendar hard-button to bring up Agenda Fusions Calendar. Right now it brings up the month, but I've been flipping between this and the week view. I keep changing my mind which one I need. I guess it depends on my weekly schedule. On a busy week, I use the weekly, on a not-so-busy week, I like the month view calendar. I have all of my nieces and nephews birthday icons (BTW, I love how it shows you how old they are going to be, I don't have to do the math anymore!!! :D ), holidays, appointments, etc, all viewable at a push of one calendar pictured hard-button. Either view is easily selectable with one tap if you all of a sudden decide you need weekly, when your hard-button is mapped to monthly.

The More-Specific-Today Screen.......Sometimes it is nice to see your daily and upcoming appointments and tasks listed out, detailing each one. It's unfortunate that the Micro$oft Versions do not allow this on the Today Screen, but then again, if it was always there, it would take up much more space on an already limited screen. In addition, I don't always need to see all of the details of each and every appointment. So what I have found to work best for me is first, to remap that house looking hard-button that is defaultly mapped for the useless Home Screen. :P I'm not fond of the Home Screen, but then again, I was never a Palm User. I've remapped the Home hard-button to the Agenda Fusion Home Screen. Now, at the touch of one button, I have all the details of each and every appointment and task, along with the day and date, and my Today screen picture. Granted, I could have just hit the calendar hard-button, then tapped the Fusion Home tab, but I like to get the details with the tap of one button. Beside, I needed to do something with that Home hard-button! :P

One of the beauties of the PocketPC OS is it quite universal and customizable. Keep playing around with it, and you too will find a way that you find both usefull and convienient.

Good Luck!

(Sorry about writing a book here! I didn't mean to ramble on like this. :P )

If you don't need all the glitz and glamor of Agenda Fusion or Pocket Informant, you might want to try SuperCalendar from Scary Bear. It has a nice month view for the main view and then if you click on a single day you get a popup for all of the appointments. It is only $9.99 compared to $24 for PI and $29 for AF.

All three have trial periods that you should take advantage of and then make the choice that is best for you.

Pocket Informant

Agenda Fusion

Scary Bear

There is another option out there that I can't remeber the website for but I think it is called PenAgenda. It again is lighter than AF or PI and doesn't cost as much.

does this mean you can remove (delete) Outlook from the Axim if you opt for a calendar replacement? Also, would you put a calendar substitute on an SD card or have it in the Axim memory?

Sorry, newbie trying to figure things out and, thanks for the info!!

I too have been trying to make my Today Screen as useful and infomrative on one page vs scrolling.

I Facelift 1.7 for the menu bars and start bar.

Next I have Battery Pack v4.1.6. I use a 4 line on a single scroll. I also use shutdown as the last icon on every line for shut downs.

I then use Owner Info X for little pic and Owner Info. I dont want someone who finds it to not know who it goes to at first glance. Not to say if I lost it it would EVER find its way back.

I then use Journal Bar v1.2.0 - 2. I didn't like it at first but with the weather for planning outdoor activities and some news and movie times, its nice and I find myself using it more and more.

I then use tAgenda for my daily activities. I have it set to an exact number of lines with then fit on one Today Screen non-scrolled. I also linked it so if I need to modify an appointment or task, It pulls up Pocket Information. That is my preffered PIM.

All in all, I have a full screen and very useful. I really want to try the SideX and have functions such as system, launcer, appointnemnts, tasks and others pulled from the side of the screen. I think that COULD make the most of screen use. I am not sure if it does that but what I saw on Handago, it seems like it may. It could be nice to have what looks like a scroll bar ont he right side (or left or both) with pull tabs to pull in a page of information for what function you pull in. Maybe I need to start some programming of my own? naaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

:D

Don't sweat it...Everyone has to start somewhere.

ROM stands for read-only memory.

It's an area of your computer that can normally only be read and not written to.

Just do a Google search to learn more ;)
