I will answer my own post. I don't think it can be done via the Axim. Sony Ericsson has a free program on their site Package1_1_5_1.exe which you can download and install on a desktop, laptop, etc. It won't install--at least mine didn't--on the Axim because it is not a pocket PC program. What I did was to transfer all my Microsoft Outlook from my Dell desktop which had no infrared connection to a Sony (or any other brand) of laptop which has infrared. If you don't have infrared, you can buy a connecting cable for about $34 which would probably do the job.
You then intall the Package on your laptop, it has a symbol at the top of Outlook for coordinating. Hit the infrared receivers on the Sony T68i, synchronize, answer a couple of questions about options and you are home free. I sent over 295 contacts--phone numbers only and my entire calendar to the phone.

P.S. Why someone wouldn't tell me about all this is still baffling, particularly Sony Ericsson!
