Hi, I'm Mark...I secretly ordered my AXIM today, and I still have my Sony t665C in hand. I am an 8 generation Palm OS user, upgrading with little abandon from Palms to Sonys (although I did own an original Newton)...and today I switched. I silently await delivery of my AXIM (3 weeks?). I train people on Palm OS...they don't know yet. I advised staff members and spouses to purchase Sonys as the best Palm OS units for Christmas presents...and today I switched...am I a traitor?

Why does this feel (same giddy exuberance) like the day I sold my Mac and bought into the inevitability of a Windows world.

Tell me my conversion is not in vain. Tell me I won't put my hand to the plow and look back to the Palm OS world. Tell me I can face the backlash of criticism and ridicule with hardened conviction. Tell me I can ask dumb, newbie questions in this new Axim family and get love, acceptance, and forgiveness. Tell me the 3 week wait will be worth it.

Youre gonna love that Axim man, it does everything, that the palm does and more, I think you will probably end up converting all the palm guys you know to the Axim as well.

Welcome aboard. I too had the original Newton. I have been a palm user off and on for about 4 years. Axim opens up a whole new world. You made the right decision my friend. Now you just need to load that bad boy up with some programs, movies, music, etc and you will wonder why it has taken you so long to "upgrade". :D

I've been a Palm user for about 5 years, switched to my Axim yesterday. It's a nice little device. I'm not really thrilled about giving up Palm Desktop for Outlook to manage my contacts and calendar, but I suppose I can learn to adapt.

Switching from a Palm to a PocketPC is like going from dial up to High speed net access, would you go back to dial up??? :)

Welcome to the PPC world. You won't regret your decision.

ex. Palm Pilot, Palm Pilot Pro, Palm III, Palm IIIxe, Handspring Visor user :)

If you get over the fact that the PPC OS has much more functionality, and the devices have much better hardware.. palm is better

Up until december I was a long time PalmOS user. I believed that the PPC was an over priced, complicated, unstable machine.. Luckily my gadget-meter perked when the Axim came out and I was an instant convert. All the anti-ppc propaganda is just bullstuff. Sure Palm handles contacts better.. it IS (just) a glorified organizer compared to PPC.

I am also a long time palm user before i accidentally damaged my Sony n760c. Disappointed by PalmOS 5, i decided to switch to PPC.

I believe both PPC and Palm have their own strength and weaknesses. Although i use Axim now and enjoy its multimedia function, i am, still, waiting for the more promissing PalmOS 6. Like many people who love Apple even they are using Windows, I am wait for a better palm... before that happen, i will stick with my best toy Axim for now! :D

As a 10 year Palm user, I agree with everyone else. You made the right choice, kid!

theres nothing wrong with the palm, well some of them. If they fulfill your needs, great. What I have against palms are the high ends
I dont think in no way do the high end palms justify the cost, like $500 for a tungston? wtf?! I think the low end (under $200) palms are great. but once you past the 200 mark, u should start looking into the pocket pcs, you get more bang for your buck.

ps. what are palm users doing in these forums?

Hi Mark, I am a Aximaholic!

I think we need a Aximanonymous site. ;)

I too was a Palm user. 4 years. I tried it all and just kept sinking lower and lower. It started innocently with the Pilot, then with IIIxe, I couldn't stop. Until one day, I hear the Good News! The Axim will sell for $299! (Of course that is after the rebate that we may never see <_< )

Anyway, I have not come to the dark side, I have seen the light! I have given away all my Palm stuff, I will not go back. I have been set free!

Evolution:

Palm V --> Palm Vx --> TRGPro --> Clie T615c

Now awaiting the shipment of my Axim X5 400, ($274 - $50 rebate = $224) scheduled for delivery on 2/10. I've never been so excited about a PDA in my life, got the wireless router and wireless compact flash waiting already. Ripping some of my Simpson's DVDs to DivX; this is gonna be great.

I know I won't have any regrets, and you won't either.

Enjoy,

V
