I had a question, I sync to my laptop at the office only. It is connected to a LAN connetion. My home has a wireless broadband router. I finally bought a wireless card for my axim. I have no problem getting on the internet from home on my axim. My question is when I am at home, can I use active sync to sync wirelessly to my laptop at my office? Or does my laptop at my office need to be connected wireless?
If I am able to sync from home to my laptop at my office, how?

In short, yes it is possible, no your laptop doesn't need to be a wireless connection. All you have to do is establish a VPN through XP (hopefully it's on your laptop) and that will work.

VPN = virtual private network.
a way for you to connect to your office network from your home connection. usually using software your company has given you on a cd or something to install on your home machine(s).

Here is the setup I have at work. Basically, I connect my LAN wire to my laptop and use Outlook for my emails. I work at a College and for this to work they got some kind of ID number off of my computer to be able to get my emails off their server.
With this setup will I be able to wirelessly activesync from anywhere with my laptop connected to a LAN connection at work.

In the active sync tools to the options menu, then make sure that the home computer is selected, It drove me nuts the first time I tried to connect the home computer via wireless, my work computer I still connect via the USB. I don't even use the cradle anymore, I just have the power cable next to my bed so I can surf at night and not use up the battery.

Just a shot in the dark, but if he doesn't know what a VPN is there is a possibility that they don't offer it at your work. I know my work is starting to crack down on who they give VPN licenses too. It is getting rediculous.
However, I have a VPN connection to work, and tried this after I read the thread. It didn't work seemlessly. I had some problems. Mainly firewall prolbems. I kept getting firewall block errors. I am not in IT so I can't change firewall settings to see what will work, I'll talk with a friend of mine to see if we can figure this out one weekend. I'll keep looking into it, and see if I can come up with a sollution.

I use my laptop at my office on a college campus. I use a LAN connection to retrieve my email thru Outlook. At first I was not able to do this. The IT department took my laptop and gave it back to me, they said they needed some kind of number (on my laptop) so I can retrieve my email of their server. I guess so the school has control of who is using their server. As you can tell I have no clue about comptures other than the fact that I have to use them a lot and rely on them. I use this laptop with my axim. It has been working great.
We have a wireless broadband router at home. So I thought it would be great to surf the internet with my axim while watching TV. I do not use active sync with my home computer, just my laptop at work. I can get on the internet and MSN messenger with no problem with my axim.
What I am trying to do from my home is use active sync wirelessly from my house (or any wireless location) to my laptop at my office. Is this even possible. And, then if it is, how?

If your work allows VPN connectivity and has provided you an ID and password, you can do it. Simply go to START - SETTINGS, select the "Connections" tab at the bottom, then start the "Connections" applet. Under "Work Settings" in either the first or second drop down list, tap the "Modify" button. Tap the "VPN" tab and select "New...". Enter a name for the connection (anything you want) and then enter the VPN server name or IP address for the server you connect to at work.
If the connectivity is allowed, it should connect you up and let you access the network at your work location. On your work laptop, you must also make sure that network connectivity is enabled in ActiveSync. Check the connection options and make sure you have "network" selected in addition to USB. You can then start ActiveSync on your Axim and it should locate your laptop at the office over the network connection.
Beware of issues like "StrykerdXP" stated he had. Many locations have firewalls or other security mechanisms in place that might cause you problems.
