ActiveSync Disconnect

Today, I tried to transfer a 30mb file to my SD card and about 2/3 of the way through, ActiveSync disconnects and I can't get it to reconnect until I restart my computer. The SD card is a SanDisk and I have the latest version of ActiveSync. Do you think the SD card is dying? Thanks.

Maybe. Sandisk SD cards have known issues with the Dell. Then again, ActiveSync has known issues too, and this disconnecting in the middle of a large transfer is not uncommon. Check the SD problem thread here http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...&threadid=4031, but I'd vote for ActiveSync problems if I were troubleshooting this. No fix, just a place to assess blame.

The other explanation may be the size of your transfer. ActiveSync doesn't do well with large file sizes. Try using a card reader or copying in Explorer instead.

Yes. We all have workarounds for this. What I don't understand is why ActiveSync can't be fixed to actually sync -- big files, small files, tasks, inboxes, whatever. Every other member has an ActiveSync issue. Some we've learned to live with -- why? What will it take for us to demand synching software that actually syncs instead of sinks? And how many demands will it take before we get some?

I was having disconnet problems with ActiveSync 3.7 and 3.7.1. I also use Sansdick CF cards, PNY MMC cards.

I found that my problem is a software issue. The problem I have seems to be with WISbar Advance and its clones (i.e. ICbar, etc.). When these are disabled/not running durring sync, it goes very smooth and stays connected no matter what I do.

With WISbar running, ActiveSync drops out shortly after it connects. This I can repeat at will.

Has anyone else noticed this with WISbar?

Fungoo - glad I could help.

On a side note to the same issue -

I have also noticed that I get dropped when I have a CF card in my card reader attached to the computer. This need not be connected to the came hub (I have them connected one thru a hub and the other right out the back of the PC).

Again, it runs smoothe as silk when the card reader is not in use.

Hope this helps.
