side scroll bar

I have not yet had an use for the side scroll bar on the AXIm (thing below the SD Slot, and above the voice record button. What are the uses of it, i was trying to use it for turning up and down the volume but i guess its not for that. What is it for and what do u all use it for and how often?

Turning the volume up and down, flipping pages in an ebook, and adjusting brightness are my main uses. The scroll tab does the same things as the D-pad up/down.
You have to map the scroll to volume in media player for that to work, and when you push the scroll in, the D-pad controls brightness.
It's often easier to use the scroll to move up and down in a big list or doc, especially something like acrobat.

The only use I have found is moving up and down lists. For example, Contacts. You can use it to move from one contact to the next. Also works in my database (SprintDB) if I have a list form.

I use it all the time to read books as it only flips one page at a time and the D pad flips 2 pages half the time (no mater how I adjust the settings)
